Open to dense trailing or matting shrub, young growth hairy. Leaves divided into 3 crinkly, roundish blue green leaflets 6-35mm x 6-35mm, hairy below, tips often notched. Heart shaped stipules at base of leaves. Scarlet pea flowers, 1-2 on long stalks, along branches. Downy pods to 50mm long.
